ALX Jewellers Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
ALX Jewellers Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 11648547), with its registered office at 16 Electric Parade, George Lane, South Woodford, London E18 2LY. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy matters by phone on 0208 530 3510 or in writing at the address above.
What information we collect
- Contact details — your name, phone number, email and postal address when you request a valuation, book a repair, post items to us, or make a purchase.
- Transaction details — descriptions, weights and photographs of items you sell to us or leave with us for repair, quotes and offers made, and payment details (such as the bank account you ask us to pay into).
- Identity documents — where required by law when buying precious metals from the public, we may record details from photographic ID (such as a passport or driving licence).
- Website and messaging data — messages you send us via email, WhatsApp, Instagram or TikTok, and basic technical data if you use our website.
- CCTV — our store and workshop are covered by CCTV for the security of customers, staff and stock.
How we use your information
- To provide valuations, quotes and offers on items you wish to sell.
- To carry out repairs, commissions and sales, and to contact you about them.
- To make payments to you and keep accounting records.
- To meet our legal obligations, including record-keeping requirements when purchasing precious metals and preventing the handling of stolen goods.
- To respond to enquiries you send us on any channel.
- To protect our premises, customers and staff (CCTV).
Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in running and protecting our business.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with: our payment and banking providers to make transfers to you; postal and courier services to return items to you; our accountants and professional advisers; and the police or other authorities where we are legally required to do so (for example, in connection with suspected stolen property).
How long we keep it
We keep transaction records, including records of items purchased from the public, for as long as required by law and for accounting purposes (typically six years). CCTV footage is kept for a limited period and then overwritten unless needed for an incident. Enquiry messages that do not lead to a transaction are deleted within a reasonable period.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to request deletion where we no longer need it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Our website links to third-party platforms including Instagram, TikTok and Google Maps. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.
